I've been trying to come up with an optimized Voltron build for Glissa, but I need more practice with various equipment to see what works best. Although, she's still possible for 1 vs. 1 duels as an aggro general.

Robert Davis may be most right that she fits in a Rock-style build instead.

She has a very strong ability that lets you turn 1 for 1s into card advantage, so she fits into a Rock-type shell easily. You could play her as an aggro general, but there are better options (albeit not in the Golgari colors).

@Douglaslinn – I think your Blue Skies deck with Rayne as a Commander could work if you pushed it. I haven't found aggro-control decks to be awful in Commander, so long as you read your opponents and play the table a bit. If you're in a Wrath-heavy meta, you will likely have a hard time with it though. I personally don't see many single target removal spells floating around so while Rayne is neat, I don't think she's the best choice at least for my group.

If you want to play a mono blue deck that doesn't just fill its hand and Time Stretch, I'd go with Vendilion Clique or Sun Quan as the commander.

I've been thinking of a Blue Skies deck with Rayne, Academy Chancellor to make all my guys cantrip when they die. I wouldn't aim to slap an Aura on her, just net a card. The issue for me is that Skies is an Aggro-Control deck, which is awful in 5c. How can I attack with evasive blue monsters, while holding counters for essentials like Wrath, and still have a shot at winning? I like Rayne a lot and I'd like to play a monoblue deck that doesn't just fill up its hand and then stretch some time.

With her low casting cost (although heavy color commitment), and deathtouch, she could go very well in a Voltron-style deck.

Other than that, she's probably better for ramp using cards like Wayfarer's Bauble to bust into high mana. She also could be played more controlling, with Executioner's Capsule and with the recursion giving you incremental advantage.

I haven't seen many Glissa builds, and mine is more of a ramp style, but I'm sure you could do Voltron, and it'd probably be fairly good and fun. Other aggro isn't as great with Glissa as Green/Black misses out on cards like Master of Etherium and Tempered Steel that help the greater numbers of a traditional aggro build.
