Also, I feel Sunblast Angel was the correct rare choice. She emulates Wrath of God, which is cool, and she's an angel, which is also cool, and she flies, which is cool in limited.

Cycles in cubes are tough, because while cycles are cool and are fun to put in, sometimes the cycle isn't even for all colors. The mages from 2012, for example–one (or two) stand(s) out as better than the rest by a large margin. I speak of Azure Mage (and Jade Mage), because that card advantage is so much better for blue than a little lifelink for white. *Shrug* I'd put the whole cycle in too in this case, mind, but it's important to make sure that we're not including cycles for the sake of keeping the cycle when tossing one or two could give certain colors a better option.

A note on Siege Mastodon. I wouldn't touch him with a ten-foot stick in serious constructed, but in draft and in games with newer players, it really shines. I love playing it and seeing people's faces as they struggle to deal with such a beast. 5 damage is a LOT.

Great point on the Stag, especially considering that the two cycles of Zendikar block's "spell lands" are virtually a shoe-in for inclusion.

I do this often because it untaps mana for things like Spell Pierce, Apostle's Blessing, Brave the Elements, Stave Off, etc. That's if the Stag comes down after my fourth land drop exactly. Later it can ensure that you have that extra mana to cast more expensive spells, but early tempo advantage is not to be overlooked.
