I think you're referring to the Leyline of the Void – Helm of Obedience combo, not "Helm of Awakening."

Batterskull doesn't "beat" Mirran Crusader, it is just the best option you have when you face one. I should have explained that more in the article, because indeed it doesn't block or stop it in any way other than racing.
