breeding pool is my favorite shockland, watery grave will get a boost over time as B/U offers powerful tutors/draw. if you think combo is under represented in modern, then watery grave is undervalued.

thanks for the feedback. i generally don’t like charts ’cause i want readers to do work. this does needs a conclusion though. i know it sounds priggish to say “readers do work” but i expect thoughtful and on topic comments. a good chart is always worth putting up, but when i see price charts and no technical analysis i think it’s a bit overkill.

here a chart or better grouping could have gone a long way to make things clear and that matters to me as i want to deliver actionable advice.

Ummm maybe a table? Sth like this would have helped:

Colours Fetch RAV block RTR block

R/U $32(scalding tarn) $16(steam vents) $8 <— buy

B/G $24(verdant catac…) $16(overgrown tomb) $10

When a writer derives conclusions about the price of a card based on the price of another (like you do in the article) I'm always mentally laying them out in my head like above anyway.

Hope you don't mind me putting it out there!

Now I realise you meant Gatecrash and compared to the Ravnica ones! 😉

Ebay also has plenty of Buy it Now auctions for Dissension Gatecrash copies of Watery Grave at $40. With older Ravnica copies only commanding an $18 price point, I’d prefer to wait. Instead I’ll be looking to pick up copies around $9. Polluted Delta at $59 could suggest Watery Grave is undervalued in Dissension Gatecrash but I don’t see the same catalysts for the Grave that I can see for Breeding Pool and the safer bet is in B/G.

Anyhow… Very interesting read!

its probably better to consider other standard/modern cards for sure. i just wanted to put it down as fetch to shock and see where they fell. watery grave stile seems too cheaprelative to playability in those two formats.

I agreed with your opinion on the specific shocks to acquire.

One thing that was lost on me was the comparison of the onslaught fetch lands to the shocks. Since they aren’t used in the same format, I’m not sure how we can conclude that polluted delta has any bearing on the price of watery graves.

It is missing a conclusion if you ask me. But I am looking forward reading this again later on today though 😉
