I am not deep on souls yet. That hoser enchantment has the potential to depress the price, and if it doesn\’t they will still be the same price later. It\’s all upside if I wait.

If I were going to preorder cards from this set, I\’d have bought Ghost Dads at $15 and Domri at $12. Domri is gettable at $15 on eBay and Ryan is slowly convincing me that this card gets there. Smitty (Jesse Smith) aka @smi77y brewed with Domri and had good things to say. I don\’t know how good an entree $15 is, but if he gets played he will likely be a bargain at $15. If he doesn\’t, he could end up worth a lot less, but who knows? Planeswalkers are never worthless because casuals like them. I was bearish on Rade for the longest time but I am warming up. I still like Vraska, though, and that card isn\’t worth dick.

There is a lot of noise out there, but why would you listen to what narfpods on facebook, or people on reddit or monkeys at your shop say? Let them be wrong. Let them make Army Loyalist be sold out at $6 or whatever, let them buy Angels and Dragons and let them sell me Craterhoof Behemoths for a buck the week before they spiked to $25. This game needs people who are wrong to be economically viable. But it\’s easy to tell who\’s wrong a lot and who\’s right a lot. Ignore the people who are wrong. Listen to the people who aren\’t and you\’ll be fine.

I wanted your opinion on something how does one stay optimistic about a set and a potential format as a competitive magic player when every social network you have people state gatecrash is “garbage.” 90% of the people that weigh in about the cards and the interactions have never top 8 anything let alone know what they are talking about. I feel like the community has gone crazy with a mob mentality one person condemns the set so shall they all.

Also I wanted your opinion on Domri Rade i know you touched on it a little bit in the article but i think this card has a lot of potential. I asked the twitterverse and i got one response back that said they liked the card as well but it was a friend and i know for a fact a R/G mage so i have to take his opinion with a grain of salt. I think it’s a good card and it has potential in the new format but due to the lack of value I think its price is rather high ( tcg mid is at 18.98) Where do you think the price will stabilize and if I want to pick them up at the prerelease this weekend what do you think is a safe price.

Also I am sad to see you didn’t go deep on lingering souls because I did so I think everyone should :).

@deathnstuff on twitter.

Rosewater said Merfolk played an important part in the story in an interview, which is where all of this came from. Taking the word of the head designer as a portent of something larger is nothing to regret.

Because it makes sense that they mention merfolk at all when they are literally insignificant to the storyline. They don\’t mention lizards, show lots of pictures of lizards and write an article showing a lizard as an important member of a guild, but there as many lizards in Gatecrash as there are Merfolk. I thought it was silly that a landlocked city should have any at all and that was my position for months until all the Vorthos nerds came back with all this info about how the Prime Speaker was important in the guild and how there were underwater areas under the city where merfolk thrived. But since all those people don\’t write articles they get to say \”Oh, I never thought there would be more than three merfolk\” like I\’m, the one who made it all up. If there were going to be three merfolk, let\’s not pretend even mentioning there would be merfolk at all wasn\’t INCREDIBLY misleading, and that\’s why I\’m upset. Stop calling me a liar.

MTG Salvation had this translated as \”Army Loyalist\” all week. I didn\’t notice the name was \”Legion Loyalist\” until we did our set review on the podcast last night and I checked the price on SCG and couldn\’t find it.

Wizards said the set would have a non-zero number of merfolk and people (such as yourself and Corbin) heard what they wanted to hear into that.
