As the other person stated..he has seen minor legacy play and I’ve seen him in several edh decks (hence I assumed he’s less unknown). His ability is rather unique and he’s decently costed…he’s a house against certain edh decks. If I see one in a trade binder at a fair cost I am definitely picking one up.

Used to be played in some SBs in Legacy when Merfolk was popular. Vial it in and go to town.

No clue why he’s not bulk – any thoughts on that one?

Exactly…I was going for lesser known cards…Rasputin, diamond valley, angus mckenzie…these are all more popular cards I figured many knew about. But I’ll make a list of good/less popular but still known cards for some of the newer players

I obviously haven’t delved into these types of cards enough for EDH as there were a few I wasn’t aware of and some I kind of want now. I’ll make sure to keep an eye out for them.

I was also surprised that Rasputin Dreamweaver and Angus Mackenizie didn’t get a mention, but maybe with their recent price spikes, they don’t qualify for “Betcha Didn’t Know”.

I was lucky enough to get my English Adun Oakenshield for the steal of $6 last year when I thought to make that EDH deck, and I’m glad I did since TCG and eBay have 3 copies between them now, and none that cheap.

Transmute Artifact was much better when you could sac a Su-Chi to it and cast a Sundering Titan off the Su-Chi mana (aka it worked like Flash); I used to do this a bunch in Vintage (Possessed Portal and Jester’s Cap were pretty awesome targets as well). I think it was called 5Tinker, basically a mash-up of Slaver and 7/10 split (before Brainstorm and TfK were restricted).

Willow Satyr is pretty cool, I have one in an Omnath EDH deck but he’s probably being cut for Rofellos since I’d rather just ramp and smash with Omnath than worry about other people’s generals.

No mention of Diamond Valley, Reset, Rasputin Dreamweaver, Angus Mackenzie, Tividar’s Crusade, Darkness, or Eureka ?

The other thing is if you have a playset of them, how much does it really hurt you to hold to them, the graph on mtgstocks does trend down (surprisingly), but the card seems worth keeping to me.

Fair enough. I should clarify on the buy/hold/sell thing. To me, sell does not imply this is the highest the card will ever be (as you correctly state..it’s been at it’s current price forever), what sell means to me is that it’s not going up anytime soon and you should re-invest the money in prospects that have more potential.

I likely weren’t your intended audience though so that’s not a problem.

What the article could have used was prices. Somebody is going to read this, think: “let’s get those Aduns!” only to find out it’s more expensive than they expect in addition to being very hard to locate.

I disagree on the Satyr. QED2 stated on the forums it was one of the EDH cards he kept buying on TCGPlayer to move locally when EDH just got started. It sounded as if he got quite a few so I think that might be pushing the price higher than it should be. Also it’s really not the kind of card people want to play in green. There are many green decks in my group, I have had a Satyr in my binder for ages and a playset of the card for personal use, nobody has ever showed any interest in playing the card. In green for 4 mana you can do a lot better than a 1/1 that you can only first activate on your next turn.

Not sure the Drop is a sell in my view. I think your reasoning is valid, but the rarity of the card and its stability over time (it’s been about $30 forever) means there is no rush. Sell to me suggests you need to get out ASAP, I think Hold/Sell would have fit better. The Same would apply to the Eve too (and note that it’s more like Twilight’s Call, not Living Death)
