Actually he’d be worse in pre-release as by the time I hit 6 mana neither me nor my opponent usually had a lot of cards in hand…but playtest with/against him in standard…he WRECKS control decks..especially since Azorious charm is their removal spell of choice.

LOL..I’m the wrong person to give advice on Vindicate..I have 5 copies myself..one pack foil (I got when it was standard legal), 1x Chinese, and 3x regulars…I have the pack foil in my trade binder (I would rather have lots of legacy decks than one pimped out one…) and I have an interested guy, but like you I really don’t want to unload it.

In reply to Sigmund Ausfresser. I agree, at $5 it's a risk-on trade. I played against Sire of Insanity during the pre-release. I can see why people would snap these up at $2 pre-order... but timid at $5-6.

I regret not preordering at $2-$3, but now that he’s $5 I’m not so eager to acquire. Justin offers valid advice – pretty soon we will see how strong Sire really is in Standard. The question is whether or not you want to ride this one out or take guaranteed profits now.

Thank you very much for the comments! They always say misery loves company, I appreciate your Prerelease story because it feels good to know I’m not alone 🙂

You could be right on Vindicate, as it is seeing minimal play these days. I’ve debated selling my set, but I just love the original artwork so much that my emotions get in the way. Maybe I should keep one copy for emotional value and sell the other three?

Looks like a bubble to me – I’d flip them ASAP. He just doesn’t seem relevant in standard, and I don’t know if block can prices that well…

Glad I picked up a playset of Sire of Instanity before the price bump. I think the price hike was in part due to a couple of articles on SCG and they upped the price on their pre-order copies accordingly.

Another good article Sigmund. I agree with most of your calls. I actually did pre-order Sire of Insanity because he is…insane (pun intended). Sorry to hear about your pre-release, I was unhappy with my pool as well (going Golgari/Dimir) and getting 2 playable Golgari cards..so I went straight Dimir. I actually like the Show and Tell artwork on the judge foil. I think one important factor in how much a judge foil drops a cards value is heavily based on how much play it is seeing. I don’t expect the Show and Tell foil to drop the price at all, but I can see the Vindicate one dropping it’s value (given it’s a 1 of in one deck). You’re dead on with the Vengevine call though.
