I always loved the original Star Wars ccg. That’s what I played before Magic. I haven’t played in 15 years though so I’m not sure it’s as great as I remember it. If you like old ccg’s you’d be better off playing these new card based board games. Here are some great examples that my friends and I love to play.

Dominion
Ascension
Race for the Galaxy
Munchkin

I’m sure there are a lot more out there, but you’d have better success finding people to play with you by going this route. Good luck!

Although Magic will always be my go-to, I often wonder if there are other card games out there worth trying out. My gut tells me to look back in time rather than forward, but I could be wrong. My bias is likely casued by my love for InQuest Magazine, which always reviewed new CCG’s as they were released. So many of the reviews looked sweet, but I never had the drive to test other games out. The only other game I ever played was Pokemon (many years ago)…doesn’t compare. Any thoughts here?
