I make starter packs from these, together with basic land and give them to new players who, I believe, can use a decent starting point.

I’m also a judge, and it feels great to help people with all kind of questions about magic. shirt or no shirt, people know they can always come and ask questions. Each week I get FB messages with questions.

Often these lists are full of older bulk rares like Whirlpool Warrior … keep in mind these kids don’t have credit cards and can’t place a simple online order, so if it’s not in stock at our LGS, it’s basically unattainable for them. Anyway every month or two I’ll take a look at their want lists, dig through my binder and ship ’em some cards, gratis. A Deathbringer Throctar here and there is a small price to pay to make sure we have a thriving commander scene around here.
