So many Dargons. They are just farting out way too many dargons, and “casual demand” is not going to prop up a ton of mediocre dragons the way people imagine. I made the point about a glut of hydras, and there are like a tenth as many hydras in Theros block as there are dragons in khans block. I think that Sarkhan and Narset may end up like Nissa – underwhelming Planeswalkers that are overvalued because the value in the set has to be SOMEWHERE. Some of the rares will be inflated as well, but it’s hard to say which ones until the community starts building. You’re right about this being a big set with no a lot in it. It’s scary.

1. No. We’re up on GM now, and will continue to be in the future 🙂

2. I think it’s that in order to make non-Mythic dragons, they had to be very meh, and are being driven by the fact they’re dragons. I think this set will sell well because Dragons, but from a Constructed viewpoint it’s that and the fact that we already have so many sets in Standard to compare to.

Overall, the power level just isn’t pushed that much. Given that the Dragons thing will carry it regardless, I’m fine with this.

1- Does the new sponsor commentary at the beginning have anything to do with this episode not appearing on Gathering Magic this morning?

2- Having just listened to the show, it seems there are very few rares or mythics in the set that y’all see as promising. I had the same sense during spoiler season- I think there are only 3 mythics I’d be excited to open, which is way less than in previous sets. So what’s ‘wrong’ with this set? Is the set relatively weak, is the glut of dragons just wearing folks out, are good options just being overlooked, or are people looking past this set b/c of the cool spoilers already done for Origins and MM2015?
