It serves double duty of pushing a kotr through blockers and protecting it from abrupt decay.

I am pretty sure a steppe is worth it too as a 1-of, and wolf run is mostly going to shine when you do not have a retreat+kotr out – its more when you have a 7/7 kotr getting stared down by 4 lingering souls tokens or 3 dorks and no other threats that wolf run looks good.

Sejiri is good against abrupt decay, since its uncounterable, blue can’t protect your creature.

You can cut the red, play some remands, dispel, spell pierce or mana tithe, then from there combo out safely perhaps?

Don’t cut Goyf of course.

I think Serum Visions has no place in an aggro deck at heart with no other synergies (Delver/Pyromancer in other “aggro” decks that do play Visions) and so I’d cut those 4 cards, trim a few Retreats, a few Birds, add Geists, a few Companies, and I think you want another land for CoCo after trimming 3-4 of the birds.

I would keep it. Knight fetching kessig (without the combo) makes creature into a threat

You were right the first time, I did miss that. In that case, I’d cut Kessig from the list right away.

I could be wrong but I do not see a need for Kessig Wolfrun, and specially not for Sejiri steppe. (although both can be reasonable but not for the reason mentioned). If your objetive is to get a ~ 20/20 across without blockers, then all u need to do is get some fetches with Knight and use 1 trigger to tap a creature the opponents control, and then fetch a land and use that trigger to untap Knight, or the other way around if you want.

You could however make an arguement for Kessig since the opponent might not be at a life total we can just 1 shot (although I would deem this fairly rare); and you could make a case for Sejiri Steppe as a way to test if you opponent has removal like: seijiri steppe for Black against Grixis and if they let it resolve go for it.

So yeah, just to give my 2 cents, although I take it back if this was a known fact and I might have missed it.

Goyf is much bluer in Legacy, particularly in its Sultai shells, than in Modern. In Modern, it’s a legitimate green creature: see Jund, Abzan, and Naya Company for its main homes.

What you mean? Goyf is blue, isn’t it?

The thing about Geist is it forces us to rely too hard on three-drops. If the Bird gets Bolted, we’re in big trouble in a Geist build. Following Bird with Tarmogoyf is much more appealing, not to mention Goyf doesn’t die to stuff like Pyroclasm that opponents are sure to bring in against us.

I agree Modern does not need new cards we have probably been spoiled with the last block

Turn 2 geist is great. Tapping things that want to block geist with your lands is fantastic.

I’m personally going to brew that deck as bant with red for wolf run only, and try squeezing various swords and lotus cobras in. It might be terrible, but t2 cobra t3 sword equip off a fetch is always boss, and swords are another way to get your knight/geist through blockers.

Too cute? maybe. But I do think geist belongs here one way or another.

I love how it works with Flickerwisp, Path to Exile, opponent’s delve spells, rest in peace, Anafenza, the Foremost and suspend spells. What you thinkin?
