I realize this is late, but I would like to point to Village-Bell Ringer, which probably means Jeskai Twin is going to be the place to go. It means the deck will lose the slight interaction of Exarch tapping something, but it’s not major and won’t increase its vulnerability to bolt.

This is possible, though what evidence do we have to back this up? I can agree with you that things “seem” that way, but who knows what deck rises up if/when Twin is no longer in the picture? Maybe a control deck would take Twin’s place. I think it’s worth discussing but I’m not sure we can determine what will “certainly” happen. 🙂

Portent is definitely interesting, I have not played with that card and it’s difficult to think about how it would play in the format, both with fetchlands and the delayed card draw. Great suggestion!

This is true, but Kiki Jiki has a lot of issues (triple red, dies to every removal spell, five mana). I think it’s possible that slowing Twin down a bit would counteract the power bump from Ponder/Preordain getting unbanned.

I definitely agree, for most people “outside” of Modern that only dabble in the format occasionally, bans come along with a negative connotation that Wizards likes to avoid. This is why we probably wont see a ban (because we don’t “need” one) but it’s interesting regardless.

I actually really like the idea of this, banning Deceiver Exarch instead. It would be interesting to see if the deck would be too powerful, but having all of the combo creatures be vulnerable to Lightning Bolt should definitely help the other decks compete.
