Jori En has been poor in my testing. Doesn’t do enough for three mana. The only time I’m happy to tap three mana for a spell is when I get to draw three cards or am winning the game.

I correct myself, Mage Ring Bully is a solid suggestion and Jeskai Elder is probably the closest thing to Jace in budget land.

What do you think of the card in this deck? He doesn’t have prowess but could be a good replacement for Jace in the sense of providing another body with some potential for card advantage…whereas another vanilla prowess creature isn’t where you want to be in terms of adding the card advantage dynamic I ddon’t think. I’m also surprised you havent mentioned Dragon Fodder or Zurgo to replace Jace as a budget option. As well, Goblin Bushwacker is solid…although without the tokens is less valuable I’d still run him out ahead of the other cards you mentioned.

There are no Fiery Impulse in my list.

Spellfist is interesting. Full disclosure, I just did a gatherer search of creatures with prowess. It’s less aggressive than Bully but it can basically always attack and forces then to spell mastery an Impulse or have something better to kill it. I do like that. Two of them and two Insight seems solid.

I am in the camp that doesn’t think jace belongs in this deck and have 2 elusive spellfists in the creature slots. I hadn’t considered mage-ring bully, but do you think it relevant that spellfist survives kozilek’s return?

Also, every time I cast magmatic insight it feels great. I’m trying to find room for a second copy because painful truths/cruise will often leave you with a grip full of unnecessary lands.
