There is no doubt that something needed to change with Tron but, these suggestions are just the start. I think the days of dropping fatties and not being able to interact are over for the time being. I’m not sure where you have been playing but, regarding “seeing less crumble”, you’re totally wrong. Every deck that has red in it plays crumble and game two, they always have it in hand. It’s like MTGO knows I’m playing Tron and will give it to them every time. I am forced to hold mana up for warping wail which sets me back turns. Maybe you’ve had better luck than me.

I really miss Kozilek’s Return with no red. I’m contemplating playing with mana confluence or gemstone mine to be able to run sweepers, bolt and path.

Hallowed Moonlight is great with coco, goryo, nahiri super, breach, eldritch evo, and chord. IMO Eldritch Evolution is broken.

I still like crucible more than sacred ground. I would rather run loam over sacred. My reasoning is that if you don’t have it out when the opponent blows up your land, you can’t get it back. Plus, sanctum with crucible out is bonkers. Although, crucible is not cheap and if you don’t have deep pockets, sacred ground it is.

Instead of running rule of law, we’re running white so I like angel’s grace much better. Instant speed and it works for more than just ad nauseam. Living end is thwarted by hallowed and rest in peace and scape can still go off by casting just scape (or they can bounce rule of law with cryptic) and play BTL. Rule of law works for storm but I see storm less and less these days. Warping Wail has done me very well against BTL and Scape.

Sunlance is eh. There’s a reason its a common.

Its too bad there is nothing else like grove of the burnwillows. Using pain lands can be the difference in the game.

I’ve been switching back between RG and GW since I first read this article and its been hard to give up on RG completely. I think Joe Lossett was onto something with bolt, sudden shock and fog. RG has a special place in my heart going back to the good old days of Eye of Ugin. Thanks Eldrazi Winter, its all your fault. It especially hurts when I see my Eye of Ugin Expedition just sitting in my binder collecting dust. I think it’s time to get closer to the ground and be more interactive.

Let me know what you guys think.

Rest in Peace is a hard answer to Dredge, Timely Reinforcements helps out a ton against most linear aggro decks (you can also look at Ghostly Prison to fight off the go-wides), and even Leyline of Sanctity might be worth a try to fend off the likes of Scapeshift. Sacred Ground is also very potent (arguably more so than Crucible of Worlds in this shell). The slightly weaker manabase is a problem (count me out on Razorverge Thicket – not reliable enough), but not that bad considering you have more ways to gain life/prevent damage. Time to do some testing!

I think it could be more efficient way to protect yourself and the card see not a lot of play in modern in my opinion.

I really loved the discard spells when I tried BG, just as I liked the Urborg as a mana-fixer. That said, I didn’t like adding other stuff like Signets, and couldn’t always reliably cast Decay in a pinch. I think it could work but I’d need more reps in it to endorse it; I’d be curious to see if lands plus Chromatics are enough to get Decay/Pulse working, or if you’d have to dilute the Tron core with stuff like Signet.

It’s the 8th Edition Urza’s Tower art photoshopped onto the Razorverge Thicket art. Glad it had a cool effect!

Is that Urza’s Tower on Mirrodin? shurly Urza was dead before then? Was it ever printed on a card?

I’ve actually had much fun and decent success running GB Tron. Abrupt Decay/Maelstrom Pulse in the main for multi-purpose removal, and Thoughtseize/Duress in the side to fight combo are pretty strong. I’ve found that 3 Golgari Signet with 1-2 Sylvan Caryatid go above and beyond for helping to fix mana, and a singleton Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth helps ease the pain from a set of Llanowar Wastes.
