I’m not a Storm player but you can swap an Island for a Snow-Covered Island. There is no actual opportunity cost to my knowledgde as nobody cares about opponent snow permanents and some people run snow lands for no reason so you don’t give actual information.
It lets you build some different Gift piles if you need an island after Blood Moon…Island +Snow-Covered Island + Past in Flames + Manamorphose, for instance.
Not common but I guess it could matter once in a while.
