Nah. 3 toughness is a big difference and the looting clause is also important with Remand/Retort. Legend is actually a plus since we never want to put two into play regardless (no three-drops to reduce) so when opps kill Baral we can replace it and make them feel bad. And of course Baral’s easier to cast. Biggest draw to Goblin is definitely 2 power, but that’s not worth giving up the draws to Baral.

Karn seems good in Blue Tron because everything seems good in Blue Tron but in reality nothing is good in Blue Tron. Jori En is not a Modern-playable creature and Field already does its job better anyway.

karn seems fantastic in mono blue tron, but that’s the only non-standard deck I can think of that would want it.

Also, did you think of stormchaser Mage?

Wanted to focus on brews here, but should have mentioned it. My stance on Precog in Storm is that it may be adopted as SB plan to grind out card advantage in the face of graveyard hate, fulfilling a similar role to that of Pieces of the Puzzle. I don’t think it will see play in the mainboard.

Yeah they have been but they don’t protect Jace that well at all. I think precognition field will net them way more value than Jace.

Generally I think Jace out of scapeshift is just way too easy to answer

But precognition field is nearly impossible to remove and they make enough Mana to actually be able to make real use of the exile aspect

Ooh, I would definitely be interested in seeing this kind of shell! Shift decks have already been experimenting with Jace (to middling results) right?

Casting explores and other search effects, digging for answers, and it naturally drops it very quickly.

I do play it in the side, but mainboard I think it’s a bit narrow. That was my reason for not including it anyway. It could work though, meta depending. Obviously it’s amazing vs small creature decks, and one-drop is nice with our Wizard spells.

Oh wow, Magus! Nice catch!

I think Karn is bad; all the colors/decks have better card advantage engines at 4CMC IMO. In Stompy I’d rather have Copter or a Matter Reshaper, and Affinity doesn’t want it. Would take another artifact deck that as of yet doesn’t exist to make full use of him.

Haven’t messed with other Dom cards yet but love the flavor so far.

***Sorry, meant was Lavamancer not viable in the maindeck.

Also, congratulations on the Classic win. My tinkering with wizards lately has been insane with the inclusion of Magus of the Moon. Wizard sub-type FTW. The downsides are losing the sprite and upping our curve, but I feel the free wins are worth it. I also hadn’t thought of Bedlam in my spell heavy build, so kudos. The wizard centric spells have been great in testing though.

I’ve been trying to brew a lot with the new Karn, but can’t settle on which direction to take. He’s interesting in a big affinity build, but feels superfluous. I’m working on a weird colorless stompybig affinity list now that top ends with All Is Dust and Wurmcoil. It’s a hot mess but a blast to play.

Any other cards you’re interested in from Dominaria, as build arounds?
