Both are weaker relative to other Standard options unless we plan on activating their expensive abilities (and in what world can we activate expensive abilities on creatures in Standard?). The angel needed lifelink natively to have a real shot at Constructed.

Judging by others’ reactions, I think I’m far lower on these two cards than most people. Chromium is the only mythic I think folks should be more hyped for than they actually are. As your article makes clear, there are a lot of rares (many more than mythics imo) that could surprise us. Like you, I really like the Master Thopterist, and I wish it had been printed earlier so it’d have more time with Kaladesh block.
