Safe deposit boxes are definitely a great alternative, especially to protect cards you don’t plan to play with. The nice thing about the policy I acquired is it covers my decks for play as well (important because one of my EDH decks makes up close to 20% of my collection’s total value). At ~150$ a year it’s a steal of a deal imo. The costs of insurance on large/ very valuable collections means all the power and rarities live in a vault.
