I’d forgotten about that. Funny how things work out.

http://quietspeculation.com/what-to-watch-2019-banlist-candidates/

… and I can really say you hit the nail on the head, dead-center. Let me quote from there:

>A deck that can go huge quickly, attack from multiple angles, and win uninteractively is potentially devastating.

>If the right enabler or another payoff card for Bridgevine gets printed, then Bridge from Below could get banned.

And it happened. But in all honesty I would’ve taken something else from Dredge too, like Narcomoeba or Bloodghast. Free spells are either already an issue or will becomes issues later, and truely free creatures enable too much broken stuff.

All that the Bridge ban does is to shift the meta back to where it was… with a slightly stronger Dredge deck thanks to Hogaak.

That’s certainly possible, I never considered it as a sideboard card. However, players really should be learning to use more persistent hate against Dredge, and if they ever do that would cut the legs off the Necropolis either maindeck or sideboard.

Casting it from hand is also a different play pattern that can change how opponents use their one-shot graveyard exile. ie, if I have 5 do nothings in my graveyard and a couple creatures in play, does my opponent crack their Relic to prevent me from casting Hogaak?
Even if it doesn’t see maindeck play (which is uncertain), it’s a great sideboard card against anyone without Path to Exile.
