It can’t be taken for granted how valuable is the card’s flavor when it comes to the earlier sets. Some of the most valuable Alpha and Beta cards like Force of Nature and Shivan Dragon are thought of as having some of the game’s best art with great card flavor to go with them. Nobody plays them anymore but holding them feels special. Also if you invest in them, especially in vintage, you truly need to love the cards you’re investing in so if the value takes a hit you still enjoy having them.

I dumped a huge bulk of vintage cards in February at normal price before the crisis, but with the high grade mint ones I’m weathering the storm. I’m more than happy to keep those even as they drop in value. I’m pretty confident that ten or twenty years down the road those cards are still likely to skyrocket. If anything I agree. It’s the perfect time to buy.
