If I remember right, the drive for a Selesnya commander was the glut of tutors. While this deck can do a decent “turn creatures sideways” impression if it needs to, it definitely wants Verdant Succession to do its thing.

So white gives us access to Idyllic Tutor, Enlightened Tutor, and the totally normal and fair Academy Rector. Outside of the tutors, we also have access to enchantment protection like Sterling Grove and Privileged Position.

White also gives us access to some of the best removal in the format. The list linked in the article is a little outdated at this point; odds are good we want something like Vanquish the Horde instead of (or in addition to?) Wrath of God. We also get access to Swords to Plowshares and Path to Exile.

…So anyway, that’s a bunch of words to justify the inclusion of white; I personally don’t think blue meets the same bar for what we’re trying to do with the deck.

We landed on Nazahn because it’s a Selesnya commander that can tutor equipment directly to the battlefield. With the backing of Nazahn’s Hammer, it can practically tutor equipment directly onto a creature.

I do think the list has room for growth, but that growth is mostly on the axes of “speed” or “power.” I don’t think that adding blue (or putting it in for white) can make the game plan notably accelerate.

(I am also constantly fighting myself against adding very cute garbage combo cards like Devoted Druid and Swift Reconfiguration or Luxior, Giada’s Gift.)

One thing I’d love to add is this works with a card that is somewhat similar that I have used – Mask of the Mimic. Too bad you’re not playing UG which I would think is just better for this idea.

Why Nazahn, Revered Bladesmith though? It seems like a mono-green deck with God-Eternal Rhonas would be a lot more consistent in deleting people once you assembled *any* combo because you would always have access to your wincon in your commander, and, it gives you an extremely easy secondary wincon of just making dudes. I assume it’s for the superior Equipment search available in white, but, does *Nazahn* do anything else outside of that?

This is definitely what a fun Commnader deck looks like, though!
