Magic Online has a problem. A card value problem. In a recent Channel Fireball article, Florian Koch showed just how much card prices have fallen over the past few years: That's right. To own a playset of the cheapest version of every Magic card ever printed on MTGO would have cost you roughly $28,000 in […]

This is the first article from my new series, MTG Questions. You might be familiar with the Hold ‘Em & Fold ‘Em series (rebranded as MTG Metagame Finance), which takes a tournament-oriented perspective. I decided to start this series to focus on more general aspects of MTG finance. The two series will work together, as when […]

Welcome back, folks. It's been a while since I last wrote an article, in large part because I've been unwilling to make any financial moves on MTGO before reading the December 6th announcement about competitive play on Arena. What is announced there could have major ramifications for investing on MTGO, and so I've been very […]

As a rule Carlos isn't a fan of countermagic, but this weeks he goes off the deep end with a deck that tries to counter all the spells! Check out Ertai, the Corrupted and his horde of Merfolk minions!

One of the most popular and powerful approaches to Commander is to play out of your graveyard. This week Carlos wants to find out what happens when someone decides to aggressively attack them instead. Turns out, this unique constraint yields a very interesting list!

Guildpact is the second set in Ravnica block, bringing us The Orzhov, Izzet and Gruul guilds. Or, if you prefer, the B/W, U/R and R/G color combinations. It was a fine set, especially because it deeply explored B/W. Guildpact brought the guilds' shocklands, along with a few other money cards. Let's take a look at Ravnica Block's second set this week!

Sometimes, decks have a pretty solid theme and plan. When you're building the Ib Halfheart, Goblin Tactician deck you know it's going to be both a burning blade of doom and gooey pile of in-your-own-face explosions. See what Carlos has been cooking with for for weeks!

With a new format becoming available for the first time Friday, it's time to take a quick look at what's available. For the most part, these will be aggro or combo decks, since control decks need to be built towards the metagame. As it stands, Caw-Blade is the premiere control deck in the format, and it can be played as-is with the mere addition of Batterskull.
