December’s data confirms that Modern’s metagame is being dictated by Boros Energy. There remain opportunities to metagame against Energy but not overcome it.
Modern’s metagame is very clearly settling. The numerous Regional Championships and other large events clearly demonstrated this stability, for better or worse.
Modern is adjusting in unexpected ways. Decks expected to thrive have disappointed, surpassed by unexpected decks. Incoming cards will further reshape Modern.
As anticipated, Wizards banned Underworld Breach on Monday. Now we wait for Mox Opal to break another deck.
