Q&A

What is Quiet Speculation?

We're a community of people who love to buy, sell, trade and most importantly, play Magic: the Gathering. You can learn more about what we do here. We offer free MTG articles 5 days a week, professional market analysis, a Magic card price tool and a vibrant community discussion forum.

What do I get with the Insider service?

You get new articles about Magic finance, access to over four years' worth of content in our archives, a private members-only forum and breaking news alerts in your inbox. Insider subscribers get access to a greatly enhanced set of Trader Tools features as well.

Do you have coupon codes?

We offer the 111% Guarantee instead of coupons. We found that people don't like the hassle of tracking down coupons, that they don't actually drive more sales, and that a better-than-money-back guarantee is an awesome alternative.

Do I have to resubscribe each month or does my subscription automatically renew?

Your subscription will automatically renew each month. Paypal sends you an email when you sign up with our service that explains the specifics of the renewing payment.

Tech aside: what specifically happens is that you tell Paypal to create a recurring payment and send it every month, along with an email to our site with a string of numbers that tell our software "hey, give this spellslinger another month!" So any account payment adjustments or cancellations have to happen on the Paypal end and not here.

What if I want to just subscribe for one month?

If you are interested in trying the service but you would only like to try a month, then set up a subscription and then cancel your recurring payment in PayPal. You will get the full amount of time that you paid for.

I have a 1-month subscription but I like your service and I want to save some money by buying a long-term subscription. What should I do? Will I lose the days I already paid for?

You will not lose any days that you have paid for. Simply subscribe to the new subscription that you want - it will only kick in when your remaining days are done. You must also cancel your current payment (see "How do I unsubscribe?" below). Remember, even if you unsubscribe from a membership level, you still get all of the days that you paid for. You will never lose days of membership on this website by changing your payment preferences.

How do I unsubscribe?

Unsubscribing is simple and easy; just stop the recurring payment in PayPal and your subscription will end when your paid-for period expires - you don't lose days you've already paid for.

I forgot to cancel my subscription and I got billed again, what should I do?

First, cancel your recurring payment. We offer refunds if you contact us through the Member Helpdesk within three days of a new subscription period. We do not offer refunds on completed subscriptions. If you contact us through any other way than the Help Desk, we cannot guarantee that we'll see the request and act on it immediately.

PLEASE don't open a dispute with Paypal without contacting us about a refund! Paypal takes about two weeks to go through a dispute resolution, even more if it's with a bank reversal. If you want a refund, we want to give it to you immediately! We aren't going to hassle you about canceling.

I signed up for Insider at a lower rate in the past; can I get that rate now that I want to sign up again?

If you signed up for Insider Plus when the site first started, you are guaranteed a $5 rate for life as a thank-you for being one of our early customers. If you would like to resubscribe at that rate, please email us and we will check our archives to make sure you were subscribed at that time, then send you instructions on how to get that rate again.

People who subscribed at a later date have no price guarantee and are only entitled to at price as long as they are subscribing. If you let your subscription lapse and you were not part of the Insider Plus group, you will need to resubscribe at the new rate.

Will you ever raise the subscription rates on existing subscribers?

No! As long as you remain subscribed, the price you pay today will be the same price for as long as you remain subscribed. We will never raise rates on existing subscribers. We may increase our new subscription rate from time to time.

Is there any way to read your articles for free?

Are you willing to work?
