Today’s article subject spawned from a discussion that began in the QS Discord chat. One of our members was contemplating stepping away from the game for a while and wanted to know the best place to park his money and/or what to trade into. As expected, a lot of people immediately jumped to Power. The general […]
Overwhelming Stampede
The sequel to Guilds of Ravnica and the 80th expansion set in Magic: The Gathering’s history is due to release on January 25, 2019. Here’s what we know about Ravnica Allegiance (RNA) so far, including any cards in the spoiler, the guilds represented, and cards to speculate on before the full spoiler is released. The Guilds […]
This is the first article from my new series, MTG Questions. You might be familiar with the Hold ‘Em & Fold ‘Em series (rebranded as MTG Metagame Finance), which takes a tournament-oriented perspective. I decided to start this series to focus on more general aspects of MTG finance. The two series will work together, as when […]
Many people have been saying there’s been a little less movement regarding Magic finance during the past few weeks or months. Some people are saying there’s a slowdown. Others are saying it’s normal because the holidays are around the corner and players have less money to spend on Magic cards. Regardless, Magic continues to move […]
Rob thinks that the horde will triumph soon using this card.
Remember learning Magic, and that life gain was good, then bad, and then rarely but conditionally useful? Where does it fit into multiplayer politics and Commander? Jules has the answers!
Note: I write set reviews from a tournament player’s perspective, not a financial perspective. As such, I try to approach new set releases with a “wide net” of all the cards which might be relevant to tournament Magic, even if it’s just a sideboard 1-of that will never be worth much. Who doesn’t love attacking with creatures in Commander? This week, David explores a Legend who will certainly help you do just that!
Jay Kirkman was asked by the four finalists in the Great Design Search 2 to consult on their intro deck submissions and here he discusses the last of the four: Shawn Main and ‘The Blight’
My name is Joshua Justice. I’m technically a “Magic Pro” because I won a PTQ last year and made Day Two at Pro Tour: Amsterdam. In reality, I’m just a weekend grinder who’s been back in the game for a little over a year, and I’ve had a couple of successful tournaments. This story begins two weeks before Grand Prix: Atlanta, in a comic shop called The DeeP in Huntsville, Alabama. My plan that day was to play in a Grand Prix Trial, then move to Atlanta to start my new job.
Not sure how to build your first Commander deck? David’s here to help! This week he offers a few pointers for basic Commander deck building and walks us through Rhys the Exiled as a potential Commander!
I am an Aggro player at heart. Since this is my first article, I thought I’d start things off with an Aggro deck that seems like it can float under the radar with your current meta. It’s a Green and Red Aggro deck… I was working on a similar list, but since that was put on the shelf for now, I will work within what I call a “development list phase.”
Green got the best rare in the set and by far the most expensive one, but is Fauna Shaman all hype? Is Obstinate Baloth going to see play? How will Overwhelming Stampede effect token decks? All this, and more, can be yours. Just keep reading!
